Chen Ming-Te was born in Taichung in 1970 and graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at National Tainan University.
He currently lives and works in Taichung, creating works primarily in oil painting and mixed media. His focus is on Taiwan's highway scenery, which he captures through his observations, particularly those experienced while traveling on fast roads. He presents these scenes in a sliced, freeze-frame manner, hoping to shape what Taiwan looks like in the minds of viewers.
黃 建 樺 HUANG Chien-Hua
Specializing in contemporary photography, Huang Chien-Hua earned his Ph.D. degree from the Doctoral Program in Art Creation and Theory, Tainan National University of the Arts. He majored in sculpture during his college years, and then focused on image presentation at the graduate school where he tried to introduce his opinion on the very being in physical space-time into contemporary digital images. He pays extra attention to non-human creatures and their relations to communities, seeking to investigate the identity of humankind in the era of photo manipulation.
His works features the combination of digital synthesis and installation, addressing the issues of ecosystem, sovereign territory, and the equality/balance between cultural ideologies that photography has encountered in this world. In addition to being interested in the qualitative change of image and viewing behavior, Huang responds to contemporary people’s real-life experiences via digital logic, linguistic symbols, and gameplay, which conjures multifaceted human fables with a humorous touch of disorder.
葉 怡 利 Yeh Yi-Li
廖 堉 安LIAO Yu-An
Born in Taipei in 1979 and won the "Taipei Arts Award" in 2003, Liao Yu-An is a promising young artist in contemporary art. The making of his art is a deeply personal one, and the theme of alienation and isolation is beautifully described in his artworks. Liao has set about making art that begans as a voyage of self-exploration and self-discovery and is now a comment on the society in which he lives. He made for himself a theater of possibilities that has embraced deeply personal moments of his life and his insecurities, as well as some astute observation on the society in which he finds himself as a young artist. The initial impression of Liao's art is that it is humorous and that it is clearly informed by animation art, cartoons, and caricature, as well as a juxtaposition of geometries: the precision of colored horizontal and vertical lines for background and a random rolling line for figuration. It is a story of struggle within our minds and our everyday realities and in our relationships that will continue to repeat itself in an endless theater of possibilities.
蘇 琬 婷 SU Wan-Ting
Su Wan-ting was born in Hsinchu in 1982 and graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at National Tainan University. She currently lives and works in Taichung. Su's work is characterized by rich colors and unique shapes, which leave a strong impression on viewers. Her abstract paintings primarily explore the concept of reproduction and regeneration. Recently, she has incorporated the shapes and contours of Taiwan's islands and various counties into her work as the canvas base. Su has completed artist residencies in both the United States and Taiwan, and her work is held in collections such as the White Rabbit Gallery in Australia, the Art Bank in Taiwan, and private collections.
